This is the story of Gin Lom Chom Hill – a project born from resilience, gratitude, and an unwavering belief in the power of community. Samran and his wife, Fon, are working tirelessly to create a space that uplifts lives through eco-tourism, education, and sustainable development.
The Roots of a Dream:
Samran’s journey began in a small village in Khon Kaen, where poverty was a daily reality. At the age of 10, his life changed forever when he was awarded the British Telecom Pestalozzi Scholarship, an opportunity that took him to the United Kingdom for education. This transformative experience instilled in Samran a deep sense of gratitude and a desire to give back to his community.
After over 15 years in the UK, Samran returned to Thailand in 2005 with a dream of uplifting the lives of others. His work as a Tourist Police Volunteer and close protection officer for VIPs reflects his commitment to serving his community. But his biggest vision was still to come.
The Birth of Gin Lom Chom Hill:
In 2020, Samran and Fon acquired 3 Rai of land in Nong Bua Lamphu, a region deeply in need of economic development. With limited resources and boundless determination, they began the hard work of transforming this land into a sustainable haven for eco-tourism and education.
Their vision for Gin Lom Chom Hill includes:
- Hosting camps and workshops to teach sustainability and alternative technologies.
- Providing jobs and educational opportunities for local residents.
- Showcasing the natural beauty of rural Thailand to inspire visitors.
Challenges and Progress:
Despite facing financial and logistical challenges, Samran and Fon have made incredible progress. They’ve built the infrastructure by hand, planted hundreds of trees, and engaged the local community in their mission. Every step is a testament to their resilience and determination.
